About the BA Business Management with Accounting programme
Packed with sharp-edge management theory and practice, to offer a thorough grounding in business management. The BA Business Management with Accounting course (validated by the University of Hull) is a contemporary, cutting-edge programme designed for students who wish to study business from a management perspective, who have a particular interest in the area of financial management. Although the programme contains a clear specialist finance pathway it is packed with sharp-edge management theory and practice designed to expand career options by also offering a thorough grounding in business management. Emphasis is placed on personal effectiveness and development within a managerial role, ensuring you are equipped with the necessary attributes to succeed in today’s dynamic business environment.
For 2017 entry onwards: applicants require 96 points from two A’ Levels, GCE and AVCE Double Award or 60 Access to HE credits . Students are also required to hold English & Maths GCSE (or equivalent) grade C or above.
Non academic entry: students with no traditional entry qualifications will be interviewed, set an appropriate piece of work (1000 word essay) and a judgement made taking into account their academic potential and relevant experience.
Those students wishing to enter through advanced standing may do so through the APCL and APEL process.

Learning & Teaching Methods
Methods of learning and teaching are designed to support students in becoming active members of a learning community. Students will be expected to work together in an informal environment as well as in formal classes where a culture of dignity, courtesy and mutual respect with staff and their peers is essential. A variety of methods will be used such as lectures, seminars, workshops, group work, computer assisted learning, case studies, video and other multi-media presentations.This broad range allows you to develop diverse intellectual skills whilst at the same time developing professional, practical and transferable skills to enhance future employment opportunities.
A recognition of the role that e-learning offers in terms of additional skills and employability is also reflected in many of the modules and this is designed to further enhance your transferable skills to achieving your personal and professional goals. There will be particular emphasis on:
a deep understanding of the main functional areas of business and the changing external environment identification and development of a range of business knowledge and skills enhancement of lifelong learning skills and personal development appropriate to higher education and ‘management’ in its broadest sense the development of enterprise and employability skills.
Upon successful completion of this degree, graduates will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to pursue a new career, or advance an existing one in business and management related roles within the private or public sectors and which have a specific focus on finance and accountancy.
There are many different career paths with a business management degree and this field is growing rapidly with widespread specialist areas involved. Common career choices in addition to an accounting path are marketing, human resource management, business analysts or working for yourself. The programme gives you an excellent all round understanding of a range of different business funcitons. Many students choose to continue their studies and progress to a master’s degree in a related topic or choose to follow a career in teaching and study for a PGCE.
