About the BA Business Management programme
Packed with sharp-edge management theory and practice, the BA Business Management course is designed to expand career options by offering a thorough grounding in business management. This is a contemporary, cutting-edge programme aimed at students eager to follow a career in management in the private or public sectors or the business related professions such as accountancy, personnel, marketing and administration. This study path will offer students the opportunity to engage with the exciting and dynamic challenges presented by the business and management sector. The aim of the programme is to offer the next generation of business leaders the opportunity to become confident, capable and above all, professional.
The broad range of modules offered by this programme allows students the opportunity to develop diverse intellectual skills whilst, at the same time, developing professional, practical and transferable skills which will enhance future employment opportunities.
For 2017 entry onwards: applicants require 96 UCAS points from two A Levels, GCE and AVCE Double Award or 60 Access to HE credits. Students are also required to hold English & Maths GCSE (or equivalent) grade C or above.
Non academic entry: students with no traditional entry qualifications will be interviewed, set an appropriate piece of work (1000 word essay) and a judgement made taking into account their academic potential and relevant experience.
Those students wishing to enter through advanced standing may do so through the APCL and APEL process.

Year 3 (Level 6) – Honours Stage

Learning & Teaching Methods
Methods of learning and teaching are designed to support you in becoming an active member of your learning community. You will be expected to work together in an informal environment as well as in formal classes where a culture of dignity, courtesy and mutual respect with staff and your peers is essential. A variety of methods will be used such as lectures, seminars, workshops, group work, video and other multimedia presentations to name a few.
A recognition of the role that e-learning offers in terms of additional skills and employability is also reflected within many of the modules and this will enable you to further enhance your transferable skills and move towards achieving your personal and professional goals. There will be particular emphasis on:
Deep understanding of the main functional areas of business and the changing external environment Identification and development of a range of business knowledge and skills Enhancement of lifelong learning skills and personal development appropriate to higher education and ‘management’ in its broadest sense Development of enterprise and employability skills.
Upon successful completion of this degree, graduates will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to pursue a new career, or advance an existing one in business and management related roles within the private or public sectors, or in business related professions such as accountancy, personnel, marketing and administration.
There are many different career paths from a business management degree and this field is growing rapidly with widespread specialist areas involved with business management. Common career choices are finance and accounting, human resource management roles, marketing, business analysts and of course working for yourself. The programme gives an excellent all round understanding of all business functions so there’s always the option of a general management role. Employment opportunities which recent graduates have undertaken include roles in both the public and private sector as well as starting up or developing their own businesses.
Many students choose to continue their studies and progress to a masters degree in a related topic or choose a career in teaching and complete a PGCE. The University Centre Grimsby offers both options!
