About the FdA Children, Young People and Families programme

The FdA Children, Young People and Families programme is aimed at those currently working or wanting to work with children, young people and families within a community context. Modules throught the programme have been designed to cover relevant aspects of the common core skills for Children’s Workforce and the Work with Parents National Occupational Standards.Students are provided with an underlying knowledge on which to work, based on the principle of enabling learners to become reflective critical practitioners seeking personal and professional development. Studies will also develop skill and knowledge for working in sector. A core element of this programme is work based learning, providing the opportunity to gain practical work experience in a relevant placement and implement the theoretical learning in a practice situation. The programme requires students to undertake a minimum of 250 hours of work based learning over the duration of the programme with at least 80 hours to be completed in the first year. A current enhanced DBS check is required for placement and the cost of this will be met by the student if the placement is not their place of employment.
